Common Questions About Working With IdealRev

We act as the sales and marketing team for commercial contractors. The core service is outsourced sales: a dedicated rep who targets the developers, owners, and GCs you want to work with, runs the outreach, and follows up until it turns into bid opportunities. Around that we build websites, LinkedIn, capability statements, and CRMs, and we offer sales training and consulting for teams that want to run it themselves.

Commercial general contractors, subcontractors, and specialty trades. We also work with suppliers and manufacturers selling into commercial construction. Residential-only builders are not a fit.

Both. For subs the targets are GCs and the goal is bid lists and prequal. For GCs the targets are developers, owners, property managers, and brokers. The outreach process is the same. The list and the message are different.

A marketing agency makes things: a website, some posts, a brochure. Then it is on you to turn that into work. We run sales. The marketing exists to make the outreach land better. If you hire us for outsourced sales, someone is doing the outreach and the follow-up every week, and you are measured on conversations and opportunities, not impressions.

Outsourced sales runs on a monthly retainer for the rep and the system behind them, plus a commission on work we help bring in. Marketing projects like websites and capability statements are priced as one-time builds. LinkedIn and CRM management are monthly. We scope everything on a 30-minute strategy call.

Conversations in the first month. Bid invites and real opportunities in months two through four. Awarded work depends on your sales cycle, which in commercial construction is usually six to eighteen months from first contact. We report weekly on who we talked to and what is moving, so you are never guessing.

No, and neither does anyone honest in this business. What we guarantee is the activity: the list gets built, the outreach goes out every week, the follow-up happens, and you see all of it. Clients who take the meetings and have the capacity to bid the work win projects. We will tell you early if we think the fit is not there.

A clear picture of the work you want more of, the estimating capacity to bid it, and an owner or PM who will take the meetings. If your website or capability statement will not hold up when a developer checks you out, we fix that first, because outreach without something behind it wastes everyone’s time.

Yes. We take standalone website, marketing materials, LinkedIn, and CRM projects. What we will tell you up front is what that piece will and will not do. A website confirms you for people who already have your name. It does not create the conversations on its own.

We are based in New York and work with contractors across the country. Business development in commercial construction happens by phone, email, LinkedIn, and the occasional site visit or industry event, so geography has never been the limit.

Business development is everything that happens before the bid: deciding which developers, owners, and GCs you want to work with, getting in front of them, building the relationship, and staying top of mind so you are on the list when the project breaks. Estimating prices the job. Business development gets you invited to price it. Most contractors have the first and nobody owning the second.

For commercial work, the marketing that supports a sales conversation: a website that answers what you build and for whom, an owner’s LinkedIn profile that developers actually see, and a capability statement someone can forward. Paid ads and SEO can work for residential and service trades where the buyer is searching. Developers and GCs are not searching for a contractor. They are asking people they know, then checking you out. Build for that.

Sometimes, and it depends what is actually broken. If people are hearing your name and then not calling, your website and materials are the problem and a good agency or a good freelancer fixes that. If nobody is hearing your name, no amount of marketing fixes that, and you need someone doing business development. Most contractors who feel burned by an agency hired one for the second problem.

Book a strategy call. We will walk through who you should be targeting, how your current efforts stack up, and what it would look like to build a real business development engine around your company. If it makes sense, you get a written sales plan before you commit to anything.
